As of Monday, September 7, Ukrainian supermarkets have seen targeted price changes on socially significant products. According to RBC-Ukraine monitoring, the most noticeable fluctuations fell into two categories — eggs and bread — while buckwheat groats and sunflower oil remained relatively stable. The XAB.info editorial team cross-checked the published figures and prepared an overview of how much basic products cost in the Silpo, ATB, Novus, and Auchan chains on the current date.
Eggs and bread: where the changes were most noticeable
The main post-weekend dynamics concentrated on eggs and bread. At Auchan, the price of an egg rose from 3.90 UAH to 4.40 UAH per piece, which works out to 44 UAH per dozen. At ATB, a dozen eggs is priced at 68.50 UAH. A rise is also traceable in the bread category: sliced bread at Silpo went up from 12.99 UAH to 13.69 UAH. Thus, the two most in-demand shelf categories showed positive dynamics, while the remaining items stayed within the previous range.
Buckwheat and oil: categories that kept their stability
Unlike eggs and bread, buckwheat groats and sunflower oil did not show a noticeable spike. The most affordable buckwheat deal on promotion is still offered by Silpo — 54.99 UAH per kilogram, while at ATB the price is 65.90 UAH/kg. For sunflower oil, the leader in affordability is Auchan, where 0.5 L costs 49.40 UAH. These figures show that not all socially significant items are moving in the same direction: part of the assortment remains stable even against the backdrop of the rise in eggs and bread.
What is visible on the shelves: visual context
The accompanying photo for the overview shows a fresh bakery display in a supermarket — the Novus brand is legible on the labels, illustrating the bakery category where a price increase was recorded. Visually, the shelves of the chains remain well-stocked, and the products are sold in transparent packaging with price stickers, which matches the format of the regular price monitoring that RBC-Ukraine is conducting as of September 7.
Contradictory data
When cross-checking sources, it is important to bear in mind that different publications record prices on different dates, which is why the figures do not match. The main RBC-Ukraine article reflects a snapshot as of September 7 (egg at Auchan 4.40 UAH/piece, sliced bread at Silpo 13.69 UAH). The novosti.ua publication provides data as of September 1, and an earlier RBC-Ukraine overview — as of July 2; in each of these slices, the specific prices for eggs, buckwheat, oil, and milk differ. This is not a substantive contradiction but a time gap between measurements: prices change from week to week, so comparing the figures only makes sense when the dates are the same. For the current date (September 7), the reference point is precisely the figures from the fresh RBC-Ukraine monitoring.
Bottom line: after the weekend, the market showed selective growth — eggs and bread got more expensive, while buckwheat and sunflower oil held at the previous level. For consumers, this means that when planning purchases, it is worth paying attention to promotions on groats and oil, which remain the most affordable, and tracking the dynamics on eggs and bread, where the changes are most felt.
