Ukrainian retailers have updated their pricing policy for basic food products. Monitoring of the largest retail chains as of July 31 showed that most items in the consumer basket remain at the previous level. However, point fluctuations in cost have been recorded in certain categories.
RBC-Ukraine analyzed offers in the "Silpo", ATB, Novus, and "Auchan" chains to find out the current cost of bread, cereals, eggs, milk, and vegetable oil.
Bakery products: complete stability
The situation with bread prices remains completely fixed. In the study of sliced bread varieties, the "Silpo" chain turned out to be the most affordable position, offering the lowest cost among competitors.
Cereals: promotional offers
The cost of buckwheat varies in the range from 55 to 70 hryvnias per kilogram. The leader in affordability at the moment is "Silpo", where the price has been reduced thanks to a promotional discount of 15%.
Eggs: price increase and profitable alternatives
In the egg category, a trend of price increase has been recorded. In particular, in the "Silpo" chain, a dozen eggs of the "Pashot" brand became more expensive by more than 2 hryvnias compared to the previous day. Nevertheless, the cheapest alternative remains the sale of eggs by the piece in "Auchan" hypermarkets.
Milk and oil: consistency and brand replacement
Prices for pasteurized milk remain unchanged in all checked chains. The minimum price threshold in this category is held by "Auchan".
In the vegetable oil category, an assortment rotation has occurred. In "Silpo", instead of "Royal Taste" brand oil, which cost 52.49 hryvnias, refined oil of its own trade mark "Premia" appeared on the shelves at a price of 56.49 hryvnias.
