After the weekend, major Ukrainian supermarket chains updated their price tags on essential food items. As of Monday, September 14, 2026, the biggest changes affected the cost of eggs, vegetable oil, and certain bread items. RBC-Ukraine has compiled current prices at Silpo, ATB, Novus, and Auchan to show where offers remain the most affordable and where the increase has been most noticeable for shoppers.

Eggs: a noticeable spread between chains

The most dynamic segment this week is eggs. At Auchan, individual C1-category eggs rose from 4.40 to 5.40 UAH per piece, equivalent to an increase from 44 to 54 UAH per dozen. Meanwhile, Silpo introduced a separate item, "Vid dobroji kurky" (From a good hen), at 39.19 UAH per dozen, making it one of the cheapest offers on the market. At ATB and Novus, price tags, by contrast, hold at their previous levels — 73.30 UAH and 68.64 UAH respectively — with no signs of further growth.

Oil and bread: end of a promotion and targeted increases

At Silpo, the promotion on 0.5 L of "Premia" sunflower oil has ended, causing its price to rise from 52.99 to 56.99 UAH. In the other chains, vegetable oil prices remained unchanged. A targeted increase was also recorded in the bread category: at Silpo, "Sumska Palanytsa Kazatska" (350 g) rose from 13.69 to 14.59 UAH, while at ATB, Auchan, and Novus the cost of baked goods did not change.

Buckwheat and milk: stability and isolated price cuts

Buckwheat prices remain relatively stable. The cheapest offer was recorded at Silpo at a promotional price of 54.99 UAH/kg, while at Novus the cost rose from 69.99 to 71.99 UAH/kg. In the dairy category, dynamics are mixed: at ATB, pasteurized "Daily Collection" milk (450 g) dropped from 22.50 to 21.30 UAH, while at Auchan a promotional price applies to 900 g of milk — 35.90 UAH.

Contradictory data

The direction of price dynamics is not uniform across either products or chains, and this is important to consider when comparing. In an earlier RBC-Ukraine article dated September 10, the headline presented milk and eggs as rising items, however in the fresh sample from September 14, milk at ATB actually fell in price, while eggs rose only at Auchan, whereas at Silpo a dozen is available cheaper than the base price tags at ATB and Novus. Thus, the claim of "rising milk and egg prices" is true only for specific chains and dates, not for the market as a whole — the price spread between operators remains significant.

Context and conclusions

The infographic compiled by RBC-Ukraine on September 14 shows that Ukrainian supermarkets still offer some of the most affordable prices on basic food items, but within this range a stable spread is forming: some chains record increases after promotions end, while others hold or even lower prices. For the consumer, this means that savings on the grocery basket increasingly depend not on the general level of inflation, but on the choice of a specific chain and tracking of promotional items.
