On the night of October 21, units of the Ukraine Defense Forces carried out a series of strikes on key military facilities of the Russian forces. According to an official statement by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the actions of the Ukrainian military resulted in hits on the occupiers' command posts in two areas — near Luhansk and Kurakhove, as well as logistical support warehouses in Crimea and the Donetsk region. This was reported on October 20 by RBC-Ukraine, citing the General Staff.
Destruction of the Enemy Command System
The General Staff emphasized that the strikes on command posts are aimed at disrupting the command and control system of the Russian forces. According to the Ukrainian command, hitting such facilities complicates the coordination of unit actions on the battlefield and reduces the operational effectiveness of the enemy. The General Staff notes that work on key military targets will continue until the complete cessation of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.
Strikes on Logistics and Material-Technical Support
In addition to command posts, the Defense Forces hit material and technical supply depots of the Russian army. As explained by the General Staff, the destruction of supply reserves complicates the provision of necessary resources to Russian units and reduces their combat capability. The strikes on warehouses in Crimea and the Donetsk region, according to the Ukrainian command, are aimed at undermining the logistical supply chain of the occupiers.
Attacks on Telecommunications Infrastructure
Parallel to the strikes on military facilities, on October 20 Ukrainian drones attacked the «Ugletelecom» data center in occupied Donetsk. On the night of October 21, the building of the «Lugakom» telecom operator and the Telecommunications Services Center in Luhansk were hit. These strikes, like the attacks on command posts, are aimed at weakening the communication and management infrastructure of Russian forces in the occupied territories.
Context: A Consistent Tactic of Striking Rear Facilities
The operations on October 20–21 fit into a consistent tactic of the Defense Forces aimed at the systematic destruction of the enemy's rear and management facilities. Earlier, in late September, the General Staff reported strikes on UAV command posts in the areas of Novoselivka Persha and Dachne in the Donetsk region, as well as on a UAV depot of the «Rubicon» unit in the Volnovakha area. Similar operations included hitting fuel and lubricants depots in the Luhansk region and logistical support facilities near Hirnyk and Velyka Shyshivka. Thus, strikes on command posts and logistical hubs have become a regular element of the combat work of Ukrainian units.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine assured that work on key enemy military targets will continue until the complete cessation of Russia's armed aggression. Specific data on losses and the scale of damage from the Russian side had not been published at the time of publication.
