The situation surrounding the attempted assassination of Ukrainian businessman Vadim Yermolaev in Monaco has intensified following new allegations in the media. Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense (GUR), has urged citizens and media outlets to rely solely on official data rather than political speculation, which, according to him, hinders the investigation.

Response to Allegations of Involvement in the Attempted Assassination

Recently, Vadim Yermolaev made a sensational statement in an interview with French media, claiming that officers "close to the current or former leadership" of the GUR were allegedly involved in the attempt on his life. This statement caused a wide resonance and required an immediate response from the agency.

Andriy Yusov described such assertions as evaluative political statements that do not serve the interests of the case. He emphasized that the GUR continues to carry out tasks to counter Russian aggression and acts strictly within the framework of the law. The agency representative stated that the case is becoming shrouded in conspiracy theories and deliberate manipulations aimed against Ukraine's national interests.

"In this context, I can only remind that the GUR provides full assistance and works jointly with law enforcement agencies because it is interested in establishing the truth," Yusov noted. He urged people to trust only verified sources and appealed to anyone possessing reliable information that could aid the investigation to contact law enforcement.

Chronology of Tragic Events

On the evening of June 29, a powerful explosion occurred in Monaco. As a result of the attack, Vadim Yermolaev and members of his family were injured. The investigation quickly proposed the version that the explosive device was installed specifically to eliminate the businessman.

A 39-year-old Ukrainian, Anastasiya Berezovska, became the suspect in organizing the assassination. On July 3, Interpol issued an international arrest warrant for her. However, the investigation took an unexpected turn: on July 7, Berezovska's body was found murdered near Kyiv.

New Arrests in the Case

After the discovery of the suspect's body, the investigation focused on clarifying the circumstances of her death. Two individuals are suspected in the murder of Anastasiya Berezovska: GUR employee Vladyslav Reut and former SBU employee Vitaliy Zhikovych.

Both suspects have already been taken into custody without the right to bail. The investigation considers their actions as a possible elimination of a witness, which adds even more intrigue and complexity to the case. Currently, law enforcement agencies continue to work on establishing all circumstances of the case, while the GUR emphasizes its readiness to cooperate to solve the crime.
