A significant event has occurred in the Chinese electric vehicle market that is set to substantially ease the lives of drivers. Huawei has announced an expansion of its strategic partnership with automaker SAIC Volkswagen. Now, owners of the brand's vehicles will be able to easily find and use Huawei's proprietary SuperCharge ultra-fast charging stations directly through their car's navigation app.
Map integration and network accessibility
The essence of the update lies in deep infrastructure integration. Huawei's proprietary charging stations are now displayed on the charging infrastructure map within the SAIC Volkswagen app. Users simply need to open the map, select the "Huawei SuperCharge" filter, and plot a route to the desired location with a single click.
At this initial stage, the scale of integration is impressive: 574 urban stations and 127 roadside facilities have been added to the system. This was made possible because the total number of new Huawei charging terminals has already exceeded the 10,000 mark.
Alliance development and coverage geography
This step is part of a broader strategy launched in 2024. At that time, the Huawei Supercharging Alliance was established with the goal of developing an ultra-fast charging network across China. The initiative quickly gained momentum, joined by major industry players including GAC Group, BAIC Heavy Truck, Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle, and Shenzhen Automotive.
Today, the network's geographic coverage spans over 200 cities and more than 130 counties. Additionally, more than 50 highways are included in the access zone. Furthermore, since the beginning of 2026, Huawei stations have been integrated into the popular Gaode Maps, further expanding search capabilities for users.
Technological advantages of terminals
The infrastructure is based on cutting-edge technology. Huawei's proprietary charging terminals are equipped with a liquid cooling system, allowing them to support power up to 600 kW. This makes them universal: they are compatible with electric vehicles using high-voltage architecture ranging from 200 to 1000 V.
The manufacturer guarantees high reliability and operational comfort:
- Charging session success rate is 99%.
- Noise level during equipment operation does not exceed 55 dB.
- Equipment lifespan is designed for more than 10 years.
Thus, the combined efforts of a tech giant and an automaker create a unified ecosystem where finding energy for an electric vehicle becomes as simple as finding a cafe or a hotel.
