Igor Obolensky, commander of the "Charter" Corps, commented on the assassination attempt on his life, calling it direct proof of the effectiveness of Ukrainian military operations. According to him, the use of terrorist methods by Russian special services indicates that the Kremlin is unable to achieve its political objectives on the battlefield.
Terror as a Sign of Desperation
In a conversation with journalists from RBC-Ukraine, Obolensky emphasized that the recent assassination attempt only confirms the correctness of the chosen strategy. "We are doing everything right and effectively destroying the enemy on the battlefield," the commander stated. He also added that such actions are a sign of the opponent's fear, and retribution from Ukraine will make him fear even more.
Operational Work of Law Enforcement
The attempt to eliminate the commander took place on July 31. As Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported, law enforcement agencies promptly detained the perpetrator of the attack and his accomplice. The head of state emphasized that Russia will bear responsibility for such actions.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the detainee was a pensioner from Kharkiv. Russian special services recruited him, posing as employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
Support from the Country's Leadership
Igor Obolensky thanked everyone for their attention and care, and personally expressed his gratitude to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his support during this difficult time. His words were not just a reaction to the assassination attempt, but also a public statement about the resilience of the Ukrainian command in the face of hostile actions.
