In Kamyshevakha, Zaporizhzhia region, the death toll from the Russian strike carried out on Monday, November 2, has risen to 37 people. According to RBC-Ukraine, this was announced by the Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration (RSA), Mykhailo Semykin. According to him, search and rescue operations are still ongoing at the scene of the tragedy: cynologists and mountain rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) are involved. The Head of the RSA expressed condolences to everyone who lost family members in this tragedy and stressed that the rescue operation is not yet complete.

Progress of Search and Rescue Operations

As of the evening of Tuesday, November 3, 58 people are considered missing in Kamyshevakha, according to Semykin. This means that the final number of victims of the attack may still change as rescuers advance through the rubble. Cynologists and SES mountain rescuers are working at the site, dismantling destroyed structures and searching for people under the debris. Official Kyiv emphasizes that the operation is ongoing around the clock and its scale is determined by the extent of the buildings' destruction.

Targets of the Attack and President's Statements

As Ukrainian media recall, on Monday, November 2, Russia dropped air bombs twice on Kamyshevakha. The strikes hit a school where humanitarian aid was being distributed at the time of the attack, as well as a shelter. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Russian military knew that humanitarian aid was distributed at this location every week, thereby pointing to the targeted nature of the attack on civilian objects. Both strikes hit buildings where civilians and staff ensuring the distribution of aid were located.

Drones Complicate the Rescue Operation

Semykin also reported that the rescue operations are being complicated by enemy drones: according to him, the enemy has intensified attacks on the scene of the tragedy, creating additional risks for rescuers and limiting the operational capabilities of equipment and personnel. According to the regional administration, this slows down the clearing of rubble and the search for the missing.

Dynamics of Official Figures

The death toll in Kamyshevakha grew as rescue operations progressed and successive updates were provided by Ukrainian agencies. Previously, the SES reported 24 dead, including two rescuers and four police officers, as well as five wounded, including two rescuers. Later, according to UNN citing Semykin, the number of victims reached 29 people with 48 missing, while Dialog.ua recorded 31 dead. The current figure announced by the Head of the RSA is 37 dead and 58 missing. According to the authorities, the final data on the consequences of the attack are being clarified.
