The situation in the Kherson region in August 2026 has reached a critical point. The Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Alexander Prokudin, officially announced an expansion of the list of settlements subject to mandatory evacuation. This unprecedented decision was made at a meeting of the region's Defense Council in response to a sharp deterioration in the security situation and systematic attacks by Russian occupiers on civilian objects.
New Risk Zones: Krasnopilske and Volshobne
The villages of Krasnopilske and Volshobne in the Borozenska territorial community have been added to the list of settlements where a mandatory evacuation regime is now in effect. As Prokudin emphasized, a strict ban on entry for families with children is being introduced in these locations. The regional administration justifies this decision with a direct threat to the life and health of the population. The geography of shelling in the Borozenska community has expanded significantly, turning previously relatively calm territories into zones of active combat operations.
Drone Terror and Strikes on Infrastructure
Special attention was paid at the Defense Council meeting to the problem of drone terror. Russian forces have shifted to a tactic of total destruction of infrastructure and the civilian population, using drones, air-launched guided bombs (KABs), and artillery. In the village of Daryivka, Russian troops completely destroyed the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which local residents built in honor of Ukrainian defenders. In Kherson itself, the Holy Spirit Cathedral, a 19th-century architectural monument, was hit by drone strikes. These actions indicate an intentional destruction of the region's cultural code and historical heritage.
Cruelty Towards Rescuers
The situation is exacerbated not only by direct attacks but also by assaults on those trying to help the victims. In the regional center, an incident was recorded where, after a KAB strike on an educational institution, Russian drones attacked rescuers clearing the rubble. Such a tactic of 'hunting' humanitarian workers and rescuers puts at risk the lives of those trying to minimize the consequences of aggression and creates an atmosphere of absolute chaos and impunity for the aggressor.
