The court in the Polish city of Wroclaw has made a tough decision in a high-profile case of an armed attack. An 18-year-old Ukrainian citizen, detained for attempting to murder a local resident, has been formally charged. Despite the defendant's refusal to admit guilt, the court has remanded him in custody for three months.

The Wroclaw District Prosecutor's Office is charging the young man with attempted intentional murder. According to Article 13 § 1 in conjunction with Article 148 § 1 of the Polish Penal Code, the defendant faces a sentence of up to life imprisonment. During the first court interrogation, the accused took a hard line: he officially denied intending to take a life and refused to give detailed testimony.
However, the court found the prosecution's arguments convincing. At the prosecutor's request, the strictest measure of restraint was chosen — detention. This decision was made for the duration of the pre-trial investigation, which will last at least three months.
Details of the night-time assault
The tragedy unfolded at night on one of the central streets of Wroclaw. According to the investigation, it all started with a sudden domestic dispute. A heated argument erupted between the 18-year-old Ukrainian and a Polish citizen, which instantly escalated into a physical fight.
The situation got out of control when the accused pulled out a knife. He inflicted several deep penetrating wounds on the woman's neck and chest area. The attacker attempted to flee the scene, but patrol police detained him "in hot pursuit" a few blocks from the incident.
Critical condition and the role of witnesses
The victim's life was in danger, but she survived thanks to the vigilance of passersby. Witnesses promptly called emergency services and provided first aid before the doctors arrived. The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where she underwent emergency surgery. At present, doctors assess her condition as stable, and the threat to her life has passed.
The investigation established that at the time of the attack, the 18-year-old was in a state of severe alcohol intoxication. The examination showed a blood alcohol level of more than 1.8 per mille. The prosecutor's office emphasized that this factor will be an aggravating circumstance when the final sentence is pronounced. The case is under special control, and the investigative authorities are continuing to gather evidence.
