Ukrainian defender Yukhym Konoplya stepped onto the pitch for Borussia Mönchengladbach for the first time in two months. The footballer took part in a friendly match against Sportfreunde Siegen, a club playing in the fourth tier of German football.

Return from injury

The friendly sparring ended in a confident 3-0 victory for the Foals. Yukhym Konoplya started in the Mönchengladbach lineup and played the entire first half, after which the coaching staff made a planned substitution along with several teammates. The Ukrainian did not register any goal contributions, but successfully worked through 45 minutes of playing time without visible signs of injury.

Circumstances of the summer injury

Recall that the 27-year-old defender joined the Bundesliga club at the end of May. However, already in July during a sparring match against Rot-Weiss Essen, he suffered an unfortunate collision, resulting in him leaving the pitch in the 12th minute while holding his right knee. A medical examination revealed a partial tear of the medial collateral ligament, causing him to miss the start of the season.

Contradictory data

While official club reports and most sports publications fixed the player's recovery period at exactly two months from the July injury, some analytical portals pointed to a potential delay in the footballer's rehabilitation until October. Nevertheless, Konoplya's successful participation in the match against Siegen completely dispelled fears of a longer recovery timeline.

Prospects in the Bundesliga

It is expected that after the international break, the Ukrainian defender will be able to fully contend for his debut in official German Bundesliga matches. The Borussia coaching staff counts on his experience and physical attributes in upcoming national league fixtures.
