Konstantyn Slobodenyuk, an actor at the Chernihiv Regional Youth Theatre and a professional sopilka player, was killed in action at the front while serving in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Konstantyn was born on 31 May 1983 and, at the time of his death, was a 43-year-old man whose creative path was inextricably linked to the cultural life of Chernihiv.

Theatrical and Musical Biography

Konstantyn Slobodenyuk's professional path spanned several artistic disciplines. He graduated from the Levko Revutskyi Chernihiv Music College and then from the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts. At the Chernihiv Regional Youth Theatre he worked as a second-category drama actor and brought a wide range of characters to the stage: Maurice in the play "The Trees Are Standing and Dying," the Demon in "Cassandra," as well as roles in the productions "The Stuntman's Adventure of Mr. Allen," "The Magic Lantern," "The Ocean of Dreams," and "The Repository." His theatrical work is represented in the Dramox archive. In parallel with his acting career, Slobodenyuk collaborated for many years with the Chernihiv Regional Philharmonic Center of Festivals and Concert Programs, performing as a professional sopilka player and participant in concert projects. Before joining the Youth Theatre, he was already an artist at the philharmonic center.

Recognition in the Professional Community

In 2024, Konstantyn Slobodenyuk's candidacy was put forward for the regional art award for his role as Sebastien Thierry in the play "The Stuntman's Adventure of Mr. Allen." This recognition confirmed the high level of his acting skill and the significance of his contribution to the repertoire of the Chernihiv Regional Youth Theatre. Service in the Defence Forces of Ukraine

In May 2024, Konstantyn Slobodenyuk joined the Defence Forces of Ukraine. From that moment on, he stopped appearing on stage, and his colleagues at the theatre and the philharmonic awaited his return. According to sources, he enlisted in the Armed Forces after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, choosing the path of defending his native country. At the front, Konstantyn was killed, not living to see the end of the hostilities.

The farewell to Konstantyn Slobodenyuk will take place on 15 September 2026 at 12:30 at the Chernihiv Cathedral of Saint Great Martyr Catherine.
