Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that Moscow currently does not plan a full-scale invasion of the country along the lines of the war in Ukraine. However, according to him, the Kremlin is consistently raising the level of tension, preparing a series of sabotage acts and provocations.
Strategy of "step by step"
The head of the Polish defense ministry described Russia's actions as a gradual increase in pressure. Currently, there are no signs of open military aggression, but Moscow is actively using hybrid methods of influence. These include intensified propaganda, provocative actions, and sabotage operations.
"Probably, these will be provocations: drones — mainly intercepted and modified Ukrainian drones; the Baltic Sea — an area critical for the security of the Alliance; sabotage operations," Kosiniak-Kamysz clarified.
Using legislation as a tool of pressure
The minister paid special attention to changes in Russian legislation, which allow Moscow to interfere in the internal affairs of other states under the pretext of "protecting the rights of compatriots." According to him, Russian institutions have already stated that the rights of Russian citizens to represent their culture and language in the Baltic states are under threat.
"Currently, Russian institutions are already stating that the right of (Russian) citizens to represent their culture and language in the Baltic states is under threat, so the situation is gradually escalating. Step by step, Russia is moving up," Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized.
Warnings from Belarus and intelligence verification
Earlier, the Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski reported that Minsk had warned Warsaw about a possible preparation of a terrorist attack on Polish territory. Currently, the information is being verified by the Polish intelligence services and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is also noted that Russia may be preparing provocations against NATO countries under a false flag. In particular, this refers to the possible use of unmanned aerial vehicles disguised as Ukrainian ones to attack Baltic countries and provoke incidents in Poland.
