Passengers of the Kyiv City Express system should be prepared for new travel conditions. In the coming days, trains of the Kyiv Ring Railway may temporarily stop when air raid sirens are activated. This decision was made due to the increased threat of Russian strikes on key railway infrastructure.

Information about changes in the operating mode was published in the official channel of "Ukrzaliznytsia". The company emphasized that passenger safety remains the absolute priority, especially in the context of targeted enemy attacks on transport hubs.

Action Algorithm During an Alarm

Specialists from "Ukrzaliznytsia" have clarified a clear order of actions for passengers in the event of a sudden train stop. If an alarm signal is activated during movement, the train stops, and passengers are strictly forbidden to remain in the carriages. The rolling stock may become a target of an enemy strike, so it is necessary to leave it as quickly as possible.

The company's message specifies two evacuation scenarios:

  • If possible, passengers should proceed to the nearest shelter.
  • In the absence of a shelter, it is necessary to move to a safe distance from the train and the railway station.

Resumption of movement occurs only after receiving official permission from the monitoring group. As soon as the "green signal" is received, the trains depart again, and railway workers do everything possible to catch up with the schedule and minimize delays.

The company explained the price increase as a necessity to cover costs for rolling stock repair and electricity payments, assuring that all existing benefits for passengers have been preserved.

Parallel to changes in the operation of suburban trains, on July 15, tariffs for single trips in communal public transport in Kyiv were revised. The cost of travel in the metro, buses, trams, trolleybuses, and the funicular increased to 30 hryvnias. The new rules do not affect routes of private carriers, however, for most city residents using urban infrastructure, this has become a noticeable change in daily life.
