Passengers of the Kyiv City Express suburban train have encountered temporary difficulties when purchasing tickets. The function for booking tickets in the official «Ukrzaliznytsia» mobile application has been suspended. This restriction has been in effect for several hours and affects all users planning a trip on the circular line.

Technical works and restoration schedule

Information about the outage was confirmed in the official channel of the Kyiv Circular Electric Train. According to RBC-Ukraine, the ticket purchasing service in the app will be unavailable until approximately 12:00. The company assured that this is a temporary measure necessary for the stable operation of the platform.

It is important to note that technical issues in the digital service do not affect the physical movement of the train. Trains continue to run strictly according to the approved schedule, ensuring the city's transport connectivity.

Alternative payment methods

During the period of restrictions, «Ukrzaliznytsia» strongly recommends that passengers use other methods to purchase tickets. This allows avoiding disruptions in route planning and guarantees uninterrupted movement around the city. The online purchasing function will return to users immediately after the completion of technical works.

Context: fare increases and changes in transport

The app outage occurred against the backdrop of a recent review of fare policy. Since July 22, the cost of travel on the Kyiv City Express has been increased for the first time since the launch of the project. «Ukrzaliznytsia» explained this decision by the growth of expenses for maintaining the rolling stock, repair works, and electricity payments. At the same time, the preferential system for certain categories of citizens has remained unchanged.

It is also worth reminding that on July 15, the cost of a single ride in municipal public transport in Kyiv was increased to 30 hryvnias. The new tariffs affected the metro, buses, trams, trolleybuses, and the funicular, however, private marshrutkas remained outside the scope of this decision.
