The Kyiv data center belonging to Omega Telecom has officially announced the cessation of its operations following another massive Russian attack targeting the critical infrastructure of the Ukrainian capital. This incident has dealt a severe blow to the regional digital ecosystem, given the pivotal role such facilities play in ensuring the uninterrupted operation of corporate networks, websites, mobile applications, and e-commerce systems.
Impact of the Strike and Recovery Measures
In an official address to partners, the management of Omega Telecom stated that the main technical hub has ceased operations. Despite heavy damage, specialists have promptly deployed backup facilities to restore communication channels and internet access. Company representatives emphasize that the process of migrating and reviving critical services is ongoing despite unprecedented technical difficulties.
Systematic Attacks on Ukraine's Digital Infrastructure
Experts note that this incident is not isolated: Russian forces have systematically targeted data centers and communication hubs across Ukraine. Previously, on October 1, 2026, a similar strike completely destroyed the Parkovy data center in Kyiv. At that time, customer data was rapidly deployed to backup facilities in the European Union, yet such incidents place a colossal burden on the entire telecommunications sector.
Government Response and Communications Security
Amid escalating strikes on digital hubs, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has demanded a significant tightening of physical and cyber protection for data centers and other strategic communication facilities, stressing that this is the personal responsibility of officials and security leadership.
