Significant changes have occurred in the schedule of the opening round of the Ukrainian Premier League 2026/27 season. The anticipated clash between Kyiv's 'Dynamo' and the capital's 'Left Bank' will not take place as originally planned. The organizers and clubs have decided to postpone the match to the winter period.
Official confirmation of the postponement came from the 'Dynamo' Kyiv press service, reports Sport RBC.UA. According to the new schedule, the derby will be played on December 2, 2026. The match will take place at the home arena of the Kyiv team, coached by Ihor Kostyuk.
Reasons for the schedule shift
The decision to postpone was not made without reason. Traditionally, such adjustments are linked to 'Dynamo's' tight schedule in European competitions. In the current season, the Kyiv team is fighting for a spot in the main draw of the Europa League through the qualifying rounds. The priority of the European campaign forced the club and the league to adjust the dates of the domestic championship.
Initially, the match was scheduled for August 2, with a start time of 18:00. However, the exact start time of the postponed match will be announced separately. It is worth noting that at the time of the statement from 'Dynamo', information about this change had not yet been published on the official UPL website.
Season start for other teams
Despite the postponement of the main capital match, the Ukrainian championship will start in full. The schedule for the first round for the other participants remains unchanged. All planned matches, except for the derby, will take place according to the approved schedule.
