On the morning of November 2, disruptions were recorded in the operation of the Kyiv Metro and high-speed tram system. According to the Kyiv Metro, the cause was significant voltage fluctuations from external power centers, which temporarily suspended traffic on a number of sections.
Which Metro Lines Were Affected
On the "green" line, train traffic was suspended between Osokorky and Chervonyi Khutir stations, as well as on the surface section of the "red" line. On the "red" line itself, trains operated only within the Akademmistechko — Arsenalna section. According to the metro, there were no changes in traffic on the "blue" line. Later, the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA) reported that traffic on the "red" line had been resumed.
Electric Transport and Funicular
In addition to the metro, voltage fluctuations affected surface electric transport: trams were not running on the Borshchahivka high-speed tram line and on Otradnyi Avenue. In certain districts of the capital, tram traffic was halted, and the funicular was out of service.
Cause: Attacks on the Power Grid
As noted in Kyiv, the disruptions are linked to systematic strikes against Ukraine's energy infrastructure. On the morning of November 2, emergency power outages were introduced in the capital and a number of regions due to attacks on the energy sector, which led to voltage fluctuations and the stoppage of some transport.
Impact on Regional Infrastructure
In the Kyiv region, strikes also targeted infrastructure facilities. As of the morning of November 2, following one of the attacks, the city of Bila Tserkva was completely left without water supply. The situation regarding power supply and transport in the capital remained dynamic, with reports of the resumption of traffic on individual sections as voltage stabilized.
