On the morning of October 27, 2026, a massive transport collapse occurred in Kyiv following a series of ballistic missile strikes launched in several waves during the previous night. According to RBC-Ukraine, vehicular traffic is severely hindered on both the left and right banks: multi-kilometer traffic jams have formed on key highways and bridges, while several roads and metro stations are currently inaccessible. City services and police have introduced additional measures to ease traffic flow and ensure safety in the impact areas.

Left Bank: South Bridge Completely Closed

The most difficult morning situation emerged on the left bank of Kyiv. The South Bridge, which sustained damage from the attack, is fully closed to traffic, and the tailback ahead of it reportedly stretches all the way from the Kharkivskyi residential massif. Significant delays were recorded on the Kharkiv Highway and the Darnytskyi Bridge, where navigation services showed delays of up to 21 minutes. The combination of bridge damage and metro restrictions was the primary cause of massive traffic jams on the left bank.

Metro Operates with Restrictions

To compensate for the lack of full metro service, the city increased the number of buses on routes. On the metro's green line, train traffic is temporarily suspended between Osokorky and Chervonyi Khutir stations. Additionally, due to police road closures, bus No. 72 is operating with route changes along Novokostiantynivska Street in both directions. Passengers who normally commute from the left bank to the right bank had to switch to taxis and ground transport in the morning, which put an extra load on the remaining open routes.

Right Bank and Police Actions

Traffic on the right bank is also complicated: according to Google Maps, traffic jams have been recorded on several street segments. Police are blocking traffic on streets near the impact sites, altering traffic patterns and forcing drivers to bypass the areas. Combined, these measures caused speeds to drop sharply even on sections of the road that were not directly affected by the attack.

What Was Damaged in the Attack

As a reminder, on the night of October 27, Russia attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles in multiple waves. According to available reports, the strike damaged a university dormitory (SUTE), the South Bridge, as well as hospitals and metro stations. These damages caused the restrictions in metro operations and the complete closure of one of the city's key transport hubs. The situation on the roads and in the metro remains dynamic, and city services continue to assess the damage and restore normal traffic flow.
