Following a massive drone attack on the Russian capital region, Moscow airports have introduced a disrupted schedule affecting more than 210 flights. The situation has impacted the city's largest aviation hubs, where passengers are facing hours-long delays and flight cancellations, as well as technical malfunctions on official internet resources.

Impact on the capital's major aviation hubs

The most difficult situation has been recorded at Sheremetyevo International Airport, where 65 departing and 106 arriving flights were delayed or cancelled. A large crowd of passengers has gathered inside the terminal building, many of whom have been in Terminal D since early morning. Passengers report long waiting times and constant rescheduling of departure times, while no official orders regarding the complete closure of airspace have been issued.

At another major airport, Vnukovo, schedule changes affected approximately 40 flights. Simultaneously, Domodedovo website experienced a massive technical failure: the main page, the online scoreboard, and most other information services became unavailable to users, although the ticket purchase function continues to operate normally.

Statements from defense agencies of both sides

In the morning, representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense issued a statement that air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 616 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones. According to the Russian department, the attacks affected the Moscow region, as well as about two dozen other regions of the country, Crimea, Tatarstan, the Krasnodar Territory, and the waters of the southern seas.

For its part, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the night operation. According to the Ukrainian General Staff, the defense forces successfully hit two facilities of the Russian military-industrial complex and aircraft at the military airfield in Yeysk.

Impact on transport logistics and future prospects

The resulting transport collapse demonstrates the fragility of civil aviation and supporting infrastructure amid large-scale air incidents. Passengers note that despite massive delays in domestic and international destinations, the situation in the terminals remains relatively calm, but uncertainty regarding the schedule persists. Further restoration of flight schedules will depend on the speed of eliminating technical glitches at airports and stabilizing the general operational situation.
