On the night of October 8, 2026, the Russian Federation launched a large-scale air attack on the territory of Ukraine, using 142 strike drones of various modifications. According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the massive raid began in the evening at 18:00 on October 7 and lasted all night, posing a serious threat to civilians in many regions of the country.

Composition of Enemy Air Forces and Routes

During the nighttime attack, the enemy used a wide range of air attack weapons. Among the 142 launched devices were classic Shahed-type drones, a significant portion (82 units) of jet UAVs, as well as Gerbera drones and special Parodiya decoy drones designed to overload the Ukrainian air defense system. Launches were carried out from several directions, including the Russian cities of Oryol, Kursk, and Shatalovo, as well as from temporarily occupied Donetsk and the settlement of Hvardiiske in Crimea.

Air Defense Performance and Impact of Strikes

As of 09:30 in the morning, air defense units, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare assets successfully shot down or suppressed 126 enemy drones. Nevertheless, impacts of air attack weapons were recorded at seven locations, and falling debris from downed aircraft was recorded at four more sites, which also led to destructions and dangerous situations.

Consequences of the Attack in Kyiv and Other Regions

The most severe consequences were recorded in the capital of Ukraine. As a result of an enemy drone hitting a 12-story residential building in the Desnianskyi district of Kyiv, a powerful fire broke out. Four people were injured, including two children, while the prompt actions of rescuers allowed the evacuation and rescue of 22 residents of the building. In parallel, work continues to eliminate the consequences of other strikes, in particular in Pryluky, where earlier missile strikes killed 22 people and wounded dozens.
