Major personnel changes are brewing in the Ukrainian energy sector. The focus is on Yurii Tkachuk, the current head of PJSC "Ukrgasvydobycha," who is being considered as the main candidate for the position of acting Chairman of the Board of NAK "Naftogaz of Ukraine".

As reported by RBC-Ukraine citing its own sources, Tkachuk's appointment is directly linked to the upcoming changes in the country's government. It is expected that the current head of Naftogaz, Serhiy Koretzky, will be officially appointed as the Prime Minister of Ukraine. It is precisely after this event that Tkachuk is expected to take the vacant position at the helm of the largest gas company.

Transition period and competitive selection

It is important to understand that this refers to temporary management. Tkachuk may head the company only until the official competitive selection for the position of permanent head is conducted. Preparation for the transition has already begun: on Monday, July 13, he was officially introduced to the Naftogaz Board of Directors, which became the first step towards his possible appointment.

Experienced manager with a 25-year history

The candidacy of Yurii Tkachuk appears to be a logical choice for such a responsible role. He is an experienced manager with more than 25 years of professional experience in the energy and industrial sectors. His career path demonstrates consistent growth and a deep understanding of the industry specifics.

Key stages of his professional biography include:

  • Work at Ukrnafta: Since November 2022, Tkachuk held the position of Financial Director of PJSC "Ukrnafta". In this position, he was responsible for forming the financial strategy, risk management, and the company's investment policy. In addition, between May and December 2025, he temporarily performed the duties of the company's head.
  • Head of Ukrgasvydobycha: Since May 2025, he has headed PJSC "Ukrgasvydobycha" in the status of acting head. In December of the same year, his appointment was officially approved, and he became the General Director of the company.

Thus, before the possible appointment to Naftogaz, Tkachuk has already proven himself as the head of two of the largest state enterprises of Ukraine's fuel and energy complex.
