French President Emmanuel Macron issued a stern statement against Russia, condemning new attacks on Ukraine’s civilian population. The head of state emphasized that the policy of terror, carried out using missiles and drones, is absolutely unacceptable to the international community.
Accountability for Crimes
In his post published on the social network X, Macron pointed out that Russia has once again targeted Kyiv and the Kyiv region. According to the French leader, each new attack only confirms the obvious fact: the aggressor must bear responsibility for its actions.
“Russia must pay the price for its aggression and answer for its crimes,” declared the French president, calling for inevitable punishment for the damage inflicted.
Strengthening Pressure and Support
Macron assured that Western partners do not intend to reduce the level of support for the Ukrainian state. On the contrary, the European Union and its allies plan to intensify sanctions pressure on Russia. At the same time, military assistance necessary for Ukraine to protect its population and territory will be increased.
“Together with Ukraine, we will not yield to either fatigue or intimidation,” emphasized the French leader, demonstrating readiness for long-term support of Kyiv.
Consequences of the Night Attack
Macron’s statement came against the backdrop of a large-scale combined attack carried out by Russia on the night of August 5. As a result of strikes on Kyiv and the region, numerous fires broke out at civilian facilities. Residential buildings, warehouses, and office buildings caught fire in several districts of the capital.
Particular damage was inflicted on the logistical infrastructure of the Kyiv region. Major hubs came under attack, including warehouses of companies “Epitsentr”, ROZETKA, and “Nova Poshta”. Due to large-scale fires at industrial facilities, air quality in the city deteriorated sharply. Monitoring stations in several districts recorded a “red” level of pollution, posing a threat to residents’ health.
