In Uzhhorod, a large-scale law enforcement operation concluded with the arrest of an armed man. The incident, which began with reports of gunfire in a forest area, attracted the attention of special units and fire services.
Distress call from children
It all started on the evening of July 24. Around 18:30 on Oleksandr Kutsina Street, a group of children approached police officers with alarming information. The children reported hearing gunshots coming from the direction of the Shakhtynskyi forest and noticed a suspicious man there.
Law enforcement officers immediately drove to the specified area to investigate. During the initial survey of the terrain, the officers heard distinct sounds of gunshots again.
Shooting and fire
Preliminary data suggests that as a result of the shooting, one of the bullets hit an abandoned building. This caused a fire that quickly spread to the adjacent forest area. The situation required immediate intervention by fire crews and an increase in police patrols.
Large-scale special operation
To localize the threat and capture the shooter, the police initiated a special operation. Additional forces were involved in the search, including officers from the KORD special unit. Law enforcement officers conducted operations to locate the suspect, while citizens were prohibited from approaching the area where the operation was taking place.
Citizens of the city were asked to promptly report any information that could help in the search for the armed man to the number 102.
Operation results
Soon, the police announced the end of the operation: the armed man was detained. During the arrest, a service pistol was seized from the suspect. At the moment, investigative actions are continuing at the scene of the incident. Law enforcement officers promise to publish additional details after their completion.

In Chernihiv, a girl was detained suspected of attempting to hand over a homemade explosive device disguised as a McDonald's burger to servicemen. According to the investigation, the explosives were intended to be detonated at one of the checkpoints.
