The morning of July 22 in Odesa began with the blaring of sirens. Russian attack drones struck the city, damaging civilian infrastructure. However, one of the most dangerous consequences of the attack was a drone crashing directly onto a residential building. Inside one of the apartments lay the device, carrying a warhead weighing more than 50 kilograms.

The Timer Was Ticking: A Situation on the Brink of Tragedy

The debris of the drone pierced the roof of the building, leaving the device inside the premises. The warhead did not detonate upon impact, but this did not make it safe. On the contrary, the detonator in its unstable state posed an immediate threat to all residents of the building. Any careless movement or vibration could have triggered an explosion that would have destroyed the building and killed dozens of people.

Bomb disposal experts from the National Police of Ukraine immediately arrived at the scene. Their task was complex and risky: to inspect the damaged room, locate the munition, and safely neutralize it.

Professional Work Under Risk

The experts quickly located the warhead with an active detonator. The situation required maximum concentration and jewel-like precision. Law enforcement officers conducted special bomb disposal operations, during which they managed to disarm the mechanism and remove the explosive elements.

Thanks to the prompt and professional actions of the police, the threat was completely eliminated. The warhead was transported from the scene and subsequently destroyed at a special range. Had it not been for the actions of the bomb disposal experts, the consequences could have been catastrophic.

Survival Rules: What to Do When Discovering "Surprises"

The events in Odesa once again reminded everyone of the importance of following safety rules during wartime. The police urge citizens to be extremely vigilant and not to risk their lives upon discovering suspicious objects.

Law enforcement officers provided clear instructions that can save lives:

  • It is strictly forbidden to touch suspicious objects that may be explosive.
  • Do not move the find yourself or attempt to dismantle it.
  • You must immediately report the find to emergency services (101 or 102).
  • Move to a safe distance and wait for the arrival of specialists.

Earlier reports stated that people were injured as a result of the morning attack on Odesa, and one of the drones caused significant damage to a two-story residential building. The incident involving the neutralization of the warhead serves as an example of how professionalism saves lives in the most critical situations.
