Major personnel reshuffles are taking place within Ukraine's foreign ministry. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a package of decrees that radically change the composition of the country's diplomatic corps. According to sources, representatives in six states, as well as the permanent representative to UNESCO, have lost their posts.
Large-scale personnel decisions
RBC-Ukraine, citing official documents, confirmed that the presidential decrees have already been signed and published. The personnel changes are formalized by documents numbered No. 697/2026 – No. 702/2026, which are posted on the official website of the head of state. This indicates a systematic approach to renewing the diplomatic corps, rather than one-off targeted actions.
Situation with the representative to UNESCO
One of the notable decisions was the dismissal of Vadym Omelchenko from the position of Ukraine's Permanent Representative to UNESCO. However, it is worth noting a nuance: Omelchenko is relieved of this function only in part of his concurrent duties. He continues to perform the duties of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to France, retaining his place in the European diplomatic mission.
Previous resignations
Current events are a continuation of a previously initiated personnel rotation process. Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy initiated the resignation of Ukraine's Ambassador to the USA, Olga Stefanishyna. The diplomat later stated that the decision to leave was made by her independently. According to her, the main tasks she arrived in Washington to accomplish were successfully completed, which became the reason for ending her mission.
