On the morning of August 2, 2026, a mass run took place in the city of Brest, timed to coincide with the celebration of Airborne Forces Day. The event, which garnered significant attention on social media, brought both active-duty military personnel and civilian participants onto the city streets.
Video footage published by eyewitnesses captures a substantial column of people moving along the roadway. Participants were dressed in traditional attire: striped undershirts (telnyashkas) and blue berets. The procession included VDV veterans, active military personnel, as well as representatives of the civilian population, including children.
The column moved under the flags of the Airborne Forces. According to eyewitnesses, the movement was accompanied by the chanting of traditional slogans, among which the call "For the VDV!" was heard most frequently.
At the time of publication, official representatives of the Brest city administration had not made any statements regarding the organization of the event. There are also no confirmed reports of temporary traffic closures or changes to the city transport schedule in connection with the run.
