The military situation across Ukraine remains extremely tense due to ongoing air attacks by Russian forces. The main target of the enemy during the latest massive raid was once again Kyiv, which bore the brunt of the air assault weapons. According to the command, the enemy used a wide range of weapons in an attempt to overcome Ukraine's air defense system.
Features of Using Zircon Missiles and Drones
As reported by Yuriy Ihnat, Head of the Communications Department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during the national telethon, Russian invaders used about a hundred drones of various modifications during the day. Drones were launched from various directions — north, south, and east, creating a serious burden on radar stations and mobile fire group teams.
In addition, the enemy used Zircon hypersonic missiles, launching two units of this weapon toward strategic targets. The official Air Force spokesperson confirmed the successful combat work of air defense forces: one of the incoming missiles was intercepted and destroyed thanks to the effectiveness of the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system. Nevertheless, the attack caused material damage to the capital's infrastructure, specifically hitting a public catering establishment.
Situation in the Regions and KAB Destruction
In addition to the massive pressure on Kyiv, the Russian army continues to actively use guided aerial bombs (KABs) against frontline and border regions. Yuriy Ihnat emphasized that severe destruction and casualties are recorded in Zaporizhzhia and Sumy oblasts, where guided bomb strikes cause colossal damage to housing stock and lifeline facilities.
Contradictory Data
Certain discussions arise in the information space regarding the scale and intensity of current shellings compared to previous months. While official Air Force reports record a combined strike using about 100 UAVs and hypersonic missiles, a number of regional publics and expert Telegram channels report record concentrations of drones per square kilometer of the capital. At the same time, military experts note that the enemy's tactics are clearly evolving toward combining UAV waves to exhaust air defense and then conduct pinpoint missile launches.
Analysis and Consequences for the Energy System
Experts associate the intensification of such strikes with attempts to exert psychological pressure on Ukrainian society and destroy logistics hubs ahead of the heating season. The successful operation of Patriot systems confirms the high effectiveness of Western aid, but the shortage of such systems remains a critical factor for protecting all major Ukrainian cities. The military leadership urges citizens not to ignore air raid alerts and to stay in shelters during every large-scale threat.
