The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team has officially reviewed the first half of the Formula 1 season, which concluded before the traditional summer break. The drivers and team management assessed the current situation in the championship, highlighting both achievements and areas for improvement ahead of the second part of the calendar.
Different scenarios: rookie success and veteran struggle
The final race before the pause, the Hungarian Grand Prix, demonstrated different levels of efficiency for the "Silver Arrows" drivers. Young Italian driver Kimi Antonelli, competing as a reserve driver, was able to demonstrate a high level of preparation, finishing in third place. This was a significant achievement for the debutant, confirming his potential.
At the same time, his teammate, experienced Briton George Russell, finished the race in seventh place. For him, the first half of the season did not go as smoothly as planned due to inconsistent results.

Kimi Antonelli expressed satisfaction with the current state of affairs but urged not to relax. According to him, the first half of the year went better than expected, but work must continue with the same intensity.
"The first half of the season went much better than we expected. However, now we need to continue, work hard, and do everything possible. The second half of the year ahead is intense, but we are ready for it," Antonelli stated.
George Russell, on the other hand, admitted the difficulty of the opening stretch and expressed hope for an improvement in form after the break. He described his feelings about the first part of the season as a rollercoaster ride.
"The first half of the season was not very smooth. I am looking forward to the break to reload and come back stronger. So far, everything has been like a rollercoaster for me, and I hope the second half of the year will be much better," Russell noted.
Management position: reliability as the key to the title
Team Principal Toto Wolff emphasized that the team is heading into the holidays with a comfortable advantage in both championship standings. Nevertheless, he warned that the current status does not guarantee final triumph.
Wolff focused on the need for further development of the car and increasing its reliability. These factors will be decisive for victory in the fight for the titles.
"We are going into the summer break with a comfortable advantage in both championship standings. This is good, but we know that we need to continue working hard after the break, continue to develop and improve reliability. This will be the key to success if we want not only to fight in both championships but to win them," Toto Wolff concluded.
