German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, during a press conference in Berlin, voiced alarming data regarding Moscow's strategic intentions. According to him, Russia is actively preparing for a large-scale expansion of military aggression in Europe, going far beyond the current war in Ukraine.

The Threat Extends Beyond Ukraine

Merz emphasized that the Kremlin's expansion plans cover a broader scope. The German leader directly pointed out that Baltic states, Moldova, and other regions of the European continent could be under attack. In his opinion, Russia's obvious preparation for new military actions requires maximum vigilance from Western countries.

"We see clear preparation by Russia for further aggression. It goes far beyond Ukraine: it threatens the Baltic states, it threatens Moldova, it threatens other parts of Europe," Merz stated.

Germany: "Not War, But Not Peace"

Due to its strategic location in the center of Europe, Germany is already feeling the consequences of the Kremlin's hostile policy. Merz noted that the country is in a unique state: "We are not living in a state of war, but we are no longer living in peace either".

In response to growing threats, Germany is forced to urgently and rapidly restore its own defense capabilities. The politician noted that this is a necessary measure to protect sovereignty and the security of citizens.

Deterrence and NATO Unity

Commenting on the risks that Russia might take advantage of the time while Europe is rearming, Merz expressed confidence in the strength of the Alliance. He is convinced that NATO maintains a sufficient level of deterrence, and there is full consensus within the bloc regarding the need to strengthen defense.

These statements echo recent warnings from other regional leaders. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda previously reported having intelligence information about Russia's new aggressive intentions. According to him, Moscow is trying to test the unity of NATO countries.

For his part, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated that Warsaw expects possible provocations. According to his data, Russia may use Ukrainian drones to destabilize the situation in the region.
