Residents and guests of Kyiv have been warned about temporary changes in traffic organization at one of the capital's key transport hubs. Starting July 31, partial restrictions will be introduced on the Metro Bridge. According to the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration (Kyiv City Council), the work will last until August 3.

Traffic Organization During Repair

The municipal enterprise "Kyivavtodormost" reported that specialists will carry out repair work on the section of the bridge heading towards the "Hydropark" metro station. Consequently, traffic will be organized on a single lane. Drivers are advised to plan their route in advance and account for possible delays during peak hours.

History and Significance of the Bridge

The Metro Bridge is not just a transport artery but also a unique engineering object. It is the first arch structure in the world with large spans designed with dry joints. The construction, where concrete elements were connected by bolts, was experimental during the Soviet era, and only a few such bridges were built in the USSR.

In addition to car traffic, the bridge carries the Sviatoshynsko-Brovarska line of the Kyiv Metro, known as the "red" line. Together with the Rusana Bridge, it connects the right-bank part of the city with the Left-Bank area, Rusanka, Voskresenka, the Forest area, and the popular recreation zone — Hydropark.

Context of Road Works in the City

Repair work on the Metro Bridge is part of a broader program to update the capital's infrastructure. It was previously reported that "Kyivavtodor" plans to repair a number of other roads and bridges this year. Also, work on the modernization of other transport facilities continues in the city, including the funicular, which was closed for a long time for reconstruction.
