The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has eased the preventive measures for Ihor Mironyuk, a suspect in the Midas corruption case within the energy sector. The former advisor to ex-Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko, who is identified in investigative materials by the code name "Rocket," has been released from the pre-trial detention center and placed under house arrest with an electronic monitoring bracelet. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing HACC hearing broadcasts.
Nearly a Year in Custody
Of all the suspects in the Midas case, Mironyuk spent the longest time in custody—nearly a year. The basis for easing the preventive measure was the expiration of the maximum term for detention during the pre-trial investigation phase. By court order, while under house arrest, he will wear an electronic bracelet, which will allow law enforcement agencies to monitor his movements.
Chronology of Arrest and Bail
Mironyuk was taken into custody by the HACC on November 12, 2025, with the court initially setting bail at 126 million hryvnias. Subsequently, the court reduced the bail amount several times; it currently stands at 25 million hryvnias. Thus, during the investigation, the collateral amount decreased significantly, eventually leading to a softer preventive measure.
Prosecution Arguments and Defendant's Position
Previously, last November, the prosecutor justified the need for Mironyuk's detention due to the risk of destroying evidence: according to the investigation, he tried to destroy documents and discard his phone during a search. Mironyuk himself denied his involvement in the Ministry of Energy and Energoatom during court hearings. Additionally, the State Bureau of Investigation separately clarified the circumstances of Mironyuk's visit to the Bureau's building.
The Essence of the Midas Case
According to the investigation, the scheme's participants systematically received so-called "kickbacks" from Energoatom contractors in the amount of 10% to 15% of the contract values. The case concerns corruption in Ukraine's energy sector. In February 2026, as part of the same Midas operation, former Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko, who held the post from April 2021 to July 2025, was also identified as a suspect.
