Elon Musk stated that the new Tesla Roadster electric sports car will be able to autonomously perform various stunts via voice command. In response to a post about the vehicle's capabilities, the Tesla CEO wrote on social media X that the car will possess 'consciousness' and will be able to autonomously reproduce the demonstrated maneuvers. According to him, owners will be able to ask the Roadster to execute any of the shown stunts in autonomous mode precisely thanks to this 'consciousness'.

Demonstration in Texas: Mid-Air Flip and Rocket Thrusters

At a presentation in Texas, the revived Roadster, equipped with rocket thrusters from SpaceX, spectacularly flew over an obstacle with a mid-air flip: the car drove onto a high arched ramp, hovered upside down above the ground, flipped in the air, and landed on its wheels, much like a reusable space rocket. According to event attendees, braking thrusters prevented an impact with the ground. Afterwards, the sports car drove up a curved ramp and jumped off it, which was captured by video cameras and photographs from the site.

Specifications: 0–60 mph in 0.81 Seconds and Speeds Above Mach 0.5

Another demonstration featured a video clip in which the Roadster accelerates from a standstill to 60 mph (about 97 km/h) in 0.81 seconds. Musk also reported that the vehicle's top speed could exceed Mach 0.5, which is approximately 612 km/h. This is noticeably higher than the 370 km/h claimed for the Thrust and Rocket versions. According to the Tesla chief, achieving this result will be aided by additional rear-mounted engines, attitude control thrusters, fans for downforce generation, and active aerodynamics.

Loop-the-Loop Track at Headquarters

Musk added that Tesla's headquarters in Texas will feature a special track with loop-the-loops, where owners can test the car and check its capabilities. Through this, the company intends to turn demonstration maneuvers into a regular element of the customer experience rather than a one-time show at a presentation.

Mass Production Scheduled for 2028

The start of mass production for the Roadster is scheduled for 2028. At the time of the announcement, the claimed specifications—including the car's 'consciousness' and speeds exceeding Mach 0.5—remain manufacturer promises and have not been confirmed by independent testing, while the actual demonstration involving leaving the ground and flipping has been documented by multiple publications.
