Singer Natalia Valeskaya has publicly commented for the first time on her participation in the 'Antimaidan' rally. The artist admitted that at that time she acted under pressure and expressed regret for being in the country during the events of 2013–2014.
Admission of pressure and threats
In an interview, Valeskaya did not hide that her decision to perform at the rally was dictated by external circumstances. 'It would have been great if I hadn't been in the country at all back then, so the phone wouldn't have rung,' the singer noted. She added that she received direct threats and emphasized the seriousness of the situation: 'It is difficult when you hear certain phrases addressed to you and understand that these people are not joking.'
The artist admitted that under such conditions, it is extremely difficult to make a conscious choice: 'Well, simply wherever you are, a person can be liquidated.'
Focusing on the present, not the past
Despite the painful nature of the topic, Natalia Valeskaya stated that today she is focused on current realities rather than re-evaluating the past. 'I may not yet be at the level to evaluate everything. These are very serious things. We are living now; we must focus on what exists today,' she said.
However, the singer expressed hope that in the future she will be able to fully reveal the circumstances of that event: 'If God wills it, that the time comes when I can tell and name it, that would be very good. Perhaps it will somehow alleviate my spiritual burden.'
Refusal to play the political game
Valeskaya also admitted that she periodically received offers to cooperate with political forces but refused every time. According to her, politicians use popular people to attract voters, and she does not want to become a tool in this game: 'And I am not here just to attract voters.'
Music and charity as priorities
Today, the singer is actively engaged in musical activities and charity. She performs at concerts in Ukraine and abroad, supporting people not only with songs but also with action. 'While I am here and already have a certain life background, I see that I must do something good every day. This is my task at this moment,' Valeskaya concluded.
