NBU raised the dollar and euro rates for September 10: dollar up 18 kopiykas, euro up 36

The National Bank of Ukraine set the official exchange rates for Thursday, September 10, 2026. Compared with the previous banking day, both major currencies rose against the hryvnia: the US dollar gained 18 kopiykas, while the euro jumped by 36 kopiykas. Thus, against the backdrop of a relatively calm start to the week, the rate shifted back toward currency appreciation by midweek.

Official rates for September 10

Pursuant to the regulator's decision, the official US dollar rate on September 10 stands at 44.64 hryvnias per unit of currency. The official euro rate for the same day is set at 51.99 hryvnias. These values take effect from the start of the banking day and serve as a benchmark for commercial banks and exchange offices when forming their own quotes.

Dynamics compared with September 9

On September 9, the dollar traded at an official rate of 44.46 hryvnias, and the euro at 51.63 hryvnias. This means that in a single day the dollar rose by 0.18 hryvnias, and the euro by 0.36 hryvnias. The increase in the European currency was twice as pronounced as that of the American one, making the euro the more "dynamic" currency in this pair over the current period.

According to the regulator, the start of the working week saw the hryvnia strengthening, but by Thursday the balance had shifted in favor of the foreign currencies. Such intra-week fluctuations within a few dozen kopiykas are typical for the market and reflect a combination of factors: currency demand from households and businesses, movements in the balance of payments, and the overall situation in financial markets. For ordinary citizens and companies, this means that when planning currency transactions, one should rely on the actual quotes for a specific day rather than on weekly averages.

The National Bank of Ukraine reminded citizens that they may open bank accounts regardless of the type of currency. At the same time, the regulator recommends that if a person wants to open an account not in US dollars or euros but in another, less commonly used currency in Ukraine, they should contact the chosen bank directly and inquire about the availability of this option, since the list of currencies in which a particular institution maintains accounts may vary.
