On July 29, the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office filed charges against Viktor Medvedchuk. The former People's Deputy of the banned party 'Opposition Platform — For Life' is accused of organizing large-scale propaganda projects directed against Ukraine. The official decision was confirmed by the Office of the Prosecutor General, while details of the investigation were published by the media outlet RBK-Ukraine.
Systematic Information Campaign
According to the investigation materials, the period of Medvedchuk's activity covered by this case spans 2023–2026. The prosecution claims that during this period, he conducted a systematic anti-Ukrainian information campaign, using various media platforms to spread destructive content.
A key episode featured in the case is an interview Medvedchuk gave in November 2025. The conversation took place with journalist Thomas Rioper for the YouTube channel 'NuoFlix'. During the broadcast, the politician publicly expressed support for the so-called 'integration' of Ukraine into the Russian Federation. The investigation classifies these statements as a call to liquidate Ukraine as an independent state.
Tools for Propaganda Distribution
According to investigators, the recorded interview did not remain confined to a single video hosting platform. Medvedchuk ensured its wide distribution through his controlled website of the media project 'Another Ukraine'. The platform was created on the basis of a public organization of the same name, which, according to the prosecution, specializes in distributing anti-Ukrainian materials and Russian propaganda.
Furthermore, in 2023, Medvedchuk participated in programs on Belarusian TV channels 'STV' and 'STV'. On these platforms, he publicly justified the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which began in 2014.
Qualification of Actions and Context
The prosecution qualified the suspect's actions under a combination of articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 2 of Article 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine), Part 2 of Article 28 (group or organization), and Part 3 of Article 436-2 (public justification of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation).
It is worth noting that this is not the only court proceeding involving Medvedchuk. In March of this year, a case regarding the embezzlement of a state oil pipeline and money laundering was transferred to court. Additionally, in August 2025, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed 12 of the politician's associates, who were accused of carrying out information attacks on Ukraine on behalf of Russia.
