In an interview with Fox News, cited by RBC-Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russian leader Vladimir Putin has lost the strategic initiative in the war. According to the President of Ukraine, the key factor has been the radical transformation of Ukraine's defense industry, which over the years of conflict has turned into a powerful innovation engine.
Five hundred companies against the enemy
Today, around 500 enterprises in Ukraine are engaged in the development of military technologies. It is they that provide tactical and strategic advantages on the front lines. "Right now, we have 500 companies with very powerful technologies," Zelenskyy emphasized.
These companies do not just produce weapons — they create solutions that change the rules of engagement: from kamikaze drones to electronic warfare systems and artificial intelligence for analyzing battlefield data.
The innovation race as a new reality
According to the President, the war has turned into a constant technological race. "We understand that this war changes every three to six months. We must change technologies," Zelenskyy noted.
This means that the Ukrainian side is forced to continuously adapt, implement new solutions, and outpace the enemy in development speed. This approach has become a response to Russia's numerical superiority in manpower.
Enemy losses and strategic deadlock
Zelenskyy also provided specific figures: "Putin is losing 30,000 soldiers a month. The losses are huge, but he does not want to stop this war. Therefore, the initiative is not in Putin's hands right now."
According to him, the expansion of Ukraine's own military capabilities and targeted strikes on Russian objects have deprived the Kremlin of the ability to dictate terms on the battlefield. What began as a rapid operation for capture has dragged on for years and has become a test for both sides — but it is Ukraine that has managed to turn time into an advantage.
From two days to four years
Putin expected to end the war in two to three days. Instead, the conflict has lasted more than four years. During this time, Ukraine not only withstood the attack but also created its own military-industrial potential capable of competing with one of the largest military blocs in the world.
As Zelenskyy noted, it was precisely technological superiority that allowed for the compensation of the enemy's numerical superiority and the return of control over the situation on the front.
