Shift in strike strategy: from mass to precision
Russian armed forces are changing their tactics for using unmanned aerial vehicles. Instead of the usual mass raids involving dozens of "Shahed" drones, the enemy is increasingly resorting to single, but technically more complex, strikes. A key element of the new strategy is the use of manual control mode, which allows operators to adjust the flight trajectory in real time.
This is reported by the RBC-Ukraine publication, citing data from Ukrainian President's advisor for defense technology development, Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov. The expert notes that the shift to pinpoint attacks indicates the enemy's attempt to adapt to the actions of Ukrainian air defense systems.
Dangerous low altitude: flying at 22 meters
A vivid example of the new tactic is a video published by the President's advisor. The footage shows a "Shahed" drone descending to an extremely low altitude — just 22 meters — to strike a ground target. This maneuver was undertaken with a specific goal: to evade the range of Ukrainian radar stations and interceptor drones.
"The idea was to get out of sight of our radars and interceptors. But our guys coped," Serhiy Beskrestnov commented on the incident. According to him, such actions by the enemy require Ukrainian defenders to quickly adapt countermeasures and constantly improve methods for detecting low-flying targets.
Technological evolution: swarm attacks and new models
The change in tactics is taking place against the backdrop of active modernization of unmanned equipment by Russian troops. Earlier, there were reports of the introduction of "swarm" technology, which allows drones to change routes mid-flight, complicating the task for air defense systems.
In addition, the appearance of the newest BM-35 drone has been recorded in the combat zone, specifically in Pokrovsk. This model, based on the Starlink system, is an analog of the "Shahed" but in a smaller format. The use of satellite communication for control and navigation makes such devices more autonomous and difficult to intercept by traditional methods.
