On the night of September 17, 2026, Russia once again struck the capital of Ukraine. According to RBC-Ukraine, citing the Telegram channel of Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the press service of Kyivwater, at least 20 people were injured in the attack, including two children. Five of the injured were hospitalized in city hospitals. Debris from unmanned aerial vehicles fell in several locations in the Dniprovskyi, Svytoshynskyi, and Solomianskyi districts of Kyiv.
Evolution of the number of casualties
According to Vitali Klitschko's initial statement, 16 people were injured in the capital, including two children. Later, as of 11:00, the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) reported that the number of injured had risen to 19. The final figure, confirmed in subsequent reports, stood at 20 people. Five of them were admitted to city hospitals for medical treatment.
Strike on a water supply facility
Particular attention is required for the fact of a hit on a critical infrastructure facility — Kyivwater. Due to the shelling, water supply was partially suspended on the left bank of Kyiv, and water pressure in the networks was reduced in some districts of the right bank. However, as the company's press service reported, specialists quickly restored the operation of the facilities, and the city's water supply is being provided in full. All Kyivwater facilities are functioning in normal mode, ensuring water delivery to all residents of the capital.
Scale of damage to residential and public buildings
According to police data, as a result of the night attack in Kyiv, residential apartment buildings, educational institutions, a municipal building, vehicles, and a railway track were damaged. In particular, an office building and a residential house were in the impact zone, as were the territories of warehouse facilities and an area near a gas station. Photos from the scene show serious damage to the balconies and window openings of high-rise buildings, as well as the presence of fire service equipment — a ladder truck of the APPch-30/2 model, used for evacuation and inspection of the affected floors.
Work of emergency services and infrastructure restoration
Immediately after the all-clear was sounded, crews of the State Emergency Service, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the debris fall sites. Firefighters, using ladder trucks, inspected the damaged balconies and windows of high-rise buildings, checking for fire hotspots and the risk of structural collapse. Kyivwater specialists eliminated the consequences of the network damage in the shortest possible time and restored water supply to normal parameters. At the time of publication of this article, all company facilities are operating in full.
