On the night of August 5, Russian forces struck Kyiv and the Kyiv region using ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. The attack caused extensive destruction and fires in the capital, as well as affecting several surrounding districts.
Scale of destruction in the region
According to Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, the consequences of the attack were recorded in the Bucha, Brovary, and Fastiv districts. In these locations, warehouse facilities were damaged, and in the Brovary district, industrial facilities came under fire.
"Unfortunately, there are injuries among civilians. Medical personnel are working at the sites, and all victims are receiving necessary assistance. Information on the number of injured is being clarified," Tkachenko reported, urging the population to strictly respond to air raid alerts.
Fires and emergencies in Kyiv
In the capital itself, the Obolon and Holosiivskyi districts were most severely affected. Explosions triggered large-scale fires, the suppression of which required the deployment of significant emergency service resources. During the firefighting operations, an additional threat emerged: an ambulance was damaged while carrying out its duties, and its driver sustained injuries.
Government response
Officials emphasize that the situation is under control but urge citizens to remain vigilant. Medical personnel continue to assist the injured, while rescue services work to eliminate the aftermath of the attack.
