The night of August 5 became a new test of resilience for Kyiv. Russian occupiers launched a massive strike on the capital of Ukraine, using ballistic missiles and drones. The strikes hit several districts of the city, causing destruction, fires, and human casualties.
Rising number of casualties
The situation in the city developed rapidly. By 2:10 AM, the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) reported a tragedy: a woman was killed as a result of the attack. At that time, the number of injured was five. However, the figures changed quickly. Just half an hour later, authorities updated the data: the number of injured rose to 12. Rescue operations at the sites are ongoing, and information on casualties may be adjusted.
Strike against medical workers
Particular concern is caused by an incident involving emergency service personnel. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed in his Telegram channel that an ambulance driver was among the injured. The ambulance was damaged as a result of repeated explosions, which complicated the work of medical personnel at the scene.
Aftermath across city districts
The consequences of the attack are being recorded at more than seven locations. The strikes hit the Holosiivskyi, Obolonskyi, Desnyanskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi districts. Housing infrastructure has been damaged in the city, and fires have broken out at warehouses. In the Holosiivskyi district, an ammonia leak occurred, which was contained thanks to the actions of rescuers.
