In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a fire broke out in a four-story building that had previously been evacuated. Despite the absence of residents, the fire posed a threat to neighboring structures. In the Solomianskyi district, damage to a non-residential premises accompanied by a fire was recorded.
Zelenskyy's warning and escalation
The attack occurred against the backdrop of a warning issued by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on July 24. The head of state stated that Russia had prepared missiles for a new massive strike, which could follow within 48 hours. The prediction came true: on the night of July 26, explosions were heard in Kyiv, indicating the operation of air defense systems and the impact of munitions.
This is not the first strike on the region in recent days. On July 24, the Kyiv region was subjected to a ballistic shelling. The greatest destruction was recorded in the Buchanskyi district. At the time of the attack, 10 people were killed, and nearly 100 others were injured with varying degrees of severity.
