On July 24, the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck one of the key Russian military enterprises located in Kirov. Additionally, oil facilities were hit at a distance of nearly 1,350 kilometers. This was stated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who called these actions a "completely just response".
Target of the strike: Defense industry and logistics
According to the head of state, the attacked enterprise is involved in supplying critical components for the enemy's aviation and missile systems. It is this equipment that is used for massive strikes on Ukrainian territory. Zelenskyy emphasized that the operation is aimed not only at destroying specific factories but also at disrupting the logistical chains that supply the Russian army with components for drones, navigation equipment, and gear.
The President thanked all units of the Armed Forces, intelligence services, and the SBU that were involved in planning and carrying out attacks on Russian facilities.
Situation in Kirov: Fire at the "Aviatek" plant
On the morning of July 24, a structure of the Russian military-industrial complex — the machine-building enterprise "Aviatek" — was attacked in Kirov. The plant specializes in the production of aviation components, surface-to-air missiles, and pilot rescue systems.
Local authorities did not report any warning about a threat or the fact of an attack. However, after the strike, a fire broke out in the area of the enterprise, and a thick column of smoke rose above the facility, confirming the fact of infrastructure damage.
Attacks on logistics: Wildberries under fire
Parallel to the strike on Kirov, at night, drones carried out a massive attack on the Leningrad region, including the suburbs of St. Petersburg. Two warehouse complexes of the Wildberries marketplace were hit.
Drones also attacked the temporarily occupied Crimea. In Simferopol, another warehouse facility of the same network became the target. These actions demonstrate an expansion of the strike zone and a focus on logistical hubs that could be used for transporting military cargo.
