On Friday morning, July 24, the Russian city of Kirov came under attack. According to preliminary data, rockets were launched at the city, resulting in damage to a defense industry enterprise.
Information about the attack appeared in Russian Telegram channels and OSINT publications, as cited by RBC-Ukraine. Local authorities in the Kirov region did not report the attack or a security threat on official resources, however, monitoring communities recorded the incident.
The target of the strike was the "Aviatek" plant
According to available data, the "Aviatek" machine-building plant was subjected to a rocket shelling. This enterprise specializes in the production of aircraft components, surface-to-air guided missiles, and pilot rescue equipment. After the strike, a fire broke out in the area of the plant building, and a massive column of smoke rose above the facility.
Visual confirmation of the attack, including footage of active fire crews, appeared in open sources. The images show rescuers extinguishing a fire in the opening of a building where flames are visible.
Massive drone attacks in other regions
Kirov was not the only region subjected to an attack that night. A massive drone strike was launched at the Leningrad region and the suburbs of St. Petersburg. As a result of the attack, two warehouses of the company Wildberries were hit.
In addition, that night drones attacked temporarily occupied Crimea. In Simferopol, a Wildberries marketplace warehouse was also hit. The series of incidents demonstrates the wide scale of strikes on logistics and industrial facilities on Russian territory.
