Events unfolded rapidly. A few minutes before the first strike, the Air Force of Ukraine warned residents about ballistic missile launches towards the capital. Around 0:48 AM, a loud series of explosions shook the city. Initially, it was reported to be one missile, but it soon became known that Russia had launched three more warheads.
The situation escalated at 1:04 AM when Kyiv was shaken by repeated explosions. The Air Force reported the arrival of four more missiles. Experts from monitoring channels suggested that in addition to S-400 systems, the enemy may have used Iskander-M type missiles, which explains the high destructive power of the attack.
Consequences: Fires in Darnytskyi and Sviatoshynskyi Districts
The first reports of the consequences of the strike came from Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko at 1:09 AM. He confirmed damage in two administrative districts of the city — Darnytskyi and Sviatoshynskyi.
In one of the districts, missile debris fell on an area of non-residential construction, where a fire immediately broke out. Later, it was reported that a non-residential building was hit at another address. Specifically, fire engulfed warehouse premises where a fire also broke out. Fire services, represented in the photos from the scene, immediately began to extinguish the fires.

The attack on the night of July 16 is not an isolated incident. Recently, Russia has been carrying out active strikes on Kyiv, predominantly using ballistic missiles and drones.
