On the night of November 2, Russian troops launched a strike on a DTEK energy facility in the Odesa region, the holding's press service reported. Emergency repair and restoration work was carried out all night, and by morning energy workers managed to reconnect some consumers, however, according to the company, outages persist and repairs continue.

Strike on DTEK facility and restoration progress

According to DTEK, the attack on the energy facility in the Odesa region occurred on the night of November 2. Immediately after it became possible, repair crews began emergency restoration work, which did not stop all night. By morning, the company reported that some consumers had been reconnected and power supplied, while outages are still recorded in the region and restoration work continues.

Emergency outages in Kyiv and several oblasts

According to NPC Ukrenergo, DTEK, and local oblenergos, due to the difficult situation in the power system caused by the consequences of Russian shelling, emergency power outages have been introduced in certain regions of Ukraine. As of the morning of November 2, such outages were in effect, in particular, in the Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, Zhytomyr oblasts, as well as in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Previously published outage schedules in these regions are not in effect during the emergency mode; outages will be canceled after the situation in the power system stabilizes, Ukrenergo noted.

Consequences for the capital: partial halt of electric transport

Due to the lack of voltage in Kyiv, electric transport has partially stopped. This is a direct consequence of emergency outages currently in effect in the capital against the backdrop of strikes on energy infrastructure. Energy workers are working to restore stable electricity supply as soon as possible.

Context: systemic strikes on the energy sector

The attack on the facility in the Odesa region became part of ongoing systemic strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Recall that on the night of October 31, Russian troops repeatedly attacked the energy infrastructure of the Dnipropetrovsk region: energy equipment was seriously damaged, including two DTEK Dnipro Grids facilities. Earlier, on October 23, energy and civil infrastructure facilities in the south of the Odesa region came under fire.
