In October, DTEK energy workers restored power supply to more than 6.7 million households in Kyiv, Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk oblasts. These homes and apartments remained without electricity due to Russian shelling of energy infrastructure. According to the company, within a month it was possible to fully or partially return light to residents of more than 2.2 thousand settlements, despite the fact that attacks on energy facilities throughout October, according to DTEK, only intensified.
Geography of Restoration: Where Most Power Was Restored
Kyiv became the leader in the volume of restored power supply, where energy workers returned light to more than 2 million homes. Significant figures were also recorded in the regions: in Donetsk oblast, power supply was restored for 1.47 million families, and in Dnipropetrovsk oblast for 1.42 million. In Kyiv oblast, light was returned to almost a million households, and in Odesa oblast to 812.8 thousand. Combined, these figures give a total indicator of over 6.7 million families who gained access to electricity during the month.
Repair Under Combat Conditions
DTEK emphasized that the restoration of damaged grids continues even in regions where active hostilities are underway. Repair teams start work immediately after receiving appropriate permission from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Emergency Service. According to the company, this procedure minimizes risks for personnel while simultaneously reducing the time consumers remain without electricity.
Dynamics: From August to October
October figures became a continuation of the months-long energy system restoration campaign. Recall that in September, DTEK energy workers restored power supply to more than 3 million families after attacks, and in August this figure was almost 4.5 million homes. Thus, in October, the volume of restored power supply increased significantly compared to the two previous months, which the company attributes to the intensification of attacks on infrastructure and the simultaneous ramping up of repair work.
The company points out that the work to restore damaged lines and substations is continuous: teams operate in an operational mode, guided by the on-site situation and decisions of military and rescue agencies. For consumers, this means that even under ongoing shelling, power supply is returned in stages as damage is eliminated and work safety is ensured.
