From October 12 to 18, 2026, DTEK energy workers restored power supply to more than 1.7 million families in Kyiv, Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk oblasts who were left without electricity as a result of Russian shelling. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing company data.

Scale of Weekly Restorations

According to DTEK, over the reporting week, energy workers fully or partially restored power supply in more than 600 settlements cut off as a result of the attacks. The largest number of restorations was recorded in Kyiv, where power was returned to 642.5 thousand families. Outages in the capital, according to the company, were caused by strikes on the backbone power grids through which Kyiv receives electricity.

Regional Distribution

In the Donetsk region, which had the second-largest volume of restorations, power workers renewed electricity supply to 474.2 thousand households over the week, in the Odesa region — 243.5 thousand, in the Kyiv region — over 229.4 thousand, and in the Dnipropetrovsk region — 166.4 thousand families. Thus, the main burden on repair crews fell on the capital and the eastern regions, where damage to the energy system is of the most large-scale nature.

Continuation of Attacks on Energy Infrastructure

DTEK emphasizes that Russian troops continue to attack Ukraine's energy infrastructure. In particular, recently, according to the company, shelling of energy facilities in Kyiv, Kyiv, and Odesa oblasts has intensified. Due to damage to the energy system, stabilization and emergency power outages are being forcibly applied in certain regions.

How Repair Crews' Work is Organized

Power workers begin repairing damaged networks immediately after receiving permission and access to the damage sites from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Emergency Service. The company notes that it is precisely the sequence of access approval that determines the speed of power restoration in blackout areas.

Context: Dynamics over Recent Weeks

Recall that a week earlier, DTEK energy workers returned electricity to nearly 1.9 million families, indicating the persistence of a high level of damage to the energy system in the autumn period. The figures for the current week demonstrate that the volume of restorations remains comparable to previous reporting periods, and the geography of blackout territories covers both western and eastern regions of the country.
