The night of July 27-28 became another test of endurance for the residents of Sumy. Russian occupiers carried out another air raid on the city, striking peaceful residential districts. As a result of the attack, six people were injured, including children.
According to official data provided by the head of the Sumy City Military Administration, Serhiy Kryvosheienko, the enemy used two aviation bombs (KAB) against the residential sector. The strike hit areas where people were present, resulting in casualties and destruction.
Tragedy in families
The most severe consequences of the strike affected minors. Among the injured were three children aged 6, 3, and 10. The condition of the 10-year-old boy required immediate hospitalization. The other children received assistance directly at the scene.
Adults were also injured. Two women, aged 38 and 39, sustained minor injuries and are receiving outpatient treatment. The condition of a 71-year-old man who was injured is assessed by medical staff as satisfactory.
Scale of destruction
The visual aftermath of the attack demonstrates the destructive power of the weapons used. Serhiy Kryvosheienko reported that approximately 12 residential buildings were damaged as a result of the strike. Three buildings were completely destroyed, reduced to piles of rubble.
This is not an isolated incident in recent times. On the evening of July 26, Sumy was also subjected to a massive attack: the city was bombed with seven KABs and struck by combat drones. On that occasion, seven people were injured, including one child who was hospitalized.
The night attack on July 28 was part of a general escalation of actions by the Russian side, which continues to strike Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, and seeks resources to continue the war.
