Shooting has begun in Ukraine on the large-scale family comedy "Petrik Pyatotsky in the Movies". The "KYIVFILM" studio announced the completion of the most difficult stage of preparation — the search for the main character. The role of the legendary schoolboy went to nine-year-old Alexander from Dnipro, for whom this project will be his first experience in cinema.
Search for the perfect Petrik: from 500 applications to the final choice
The film's producer Yevhen Taler and the character's author Natalia Guzeeva faced a difficult task: to find a child who would not "play" the role, but could organically live in the image. The search began with an in-person casting, where Alexander, who received number 0003, immediately made it into the top three finalists.
However, the team decided not to stop there and conducted a large-scale all-Ukrainian online selection. During the work, applications and auditions of more than 500 children were reviewed. In the end, the film's creators returned to Sasha's candidacy, convinced of his unique potential.
"Sasha became a real find for us. He went through a large selection and convinced us with his sincerity," noted producer Yevhen Taler. The first filmed scenes and the results of the young actor's preparation confirmed the correctness of the choice.
Skateboard, courage, and new friends
Preparation for filming required serious work from the nine-year-old debutant. In addition to studying the script, Alexander had to learn to ride a skateboard, which became his favorite part of the preparation.
The young actor himself admitted that he is inspired by Petrik's courage and his ability to unite people to save others. Sasha is already ready for a busy schedule and expects bright impressions and new acquaintances from working on the set.
What to expect from the film
The creators promise a modern interpretation of the story of the famous character, which will be interesting for both children and adults. The premiere of the film "Petrik Pyatotsky in the Movies" is scheduled for autumn 2027.
